Maria Jane Loizou is an accomplished vocalist and educator residing in the Boston area. Her concerts range from themed recitals such as Art Nouveau and Fin-de-Siècle Song, Elements of American Song, Celebrating James Joyce in Song, and Songs from the Cafés of Paris to annual outdoor concerts of jazz standards and popular music in Boston’s Ramler Park. Her international concert experience has given her in-depth knowledge of European culture, language, and music. She is also an experienced choral singer with many ensembles in the Boston area including the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and various professional church choirs. Besides offering individualized vocal training, she is also a masterclass clinician and vocal coach.
Ms. Loizou completed a Master of Music degree in Vocal Pedagogy with academic honors at New England Conservatory (NEC) in 1999. She has studied voice with Maria Spacagna (Metropolitan Opera) and Marianne Weltmann (Deutsche Opera Berlin), and coached with Margo Garrett (NEC, Juilliard) and Olivier Reboul (Paris Conservatoire).
She has augmented her voice training with study at the LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework ™ for Contemporary Commercial Music (musical theater, pop, folk, light rock) in 2023 and 2024, and uses concepts used in yoga, Feldenkrais and Alexander Techniques in her teaching. A member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the New England chapter of NATS, and Boston Singer Resource, she teaches privately and at the Belmont Hill School where she is also the vocal coach for middle school musicals.
