The focus of my teaching is on developing good breath management and voice functionality. This forms the basis to improve tone quality, range, and volume. As technical competence grows, the singer gains confidence and enhances their stage presence.

One of the first things we address is how to take in a relaxed breath. This is a basic building block of good singing. Often an improvement in posture and speaking voice follows. I believe that learning to ground and develop the awareness of how to take in a relaxed breath are fundamental skills that can provide you with benefits for the rest of your life. Once the basic principles of singing feel comfortable, they are applied to the music to be learned in the lesson.

Repertoire and Auditions

Students are encouraged to bring in their own repertoire. As part of my teaching, I will also choose songs to reinforce new concepts that I introduce in the lesson.  When a student needs to audition, I am happy to provide a free warm-up session so that they can be at your best.
